This is the second entry in my Cultural Mashup series.

What was the inspiration?

I grew up in “Hindi-Russi bhai-bhai” era. The prize of almost every drawing competition I won, was a set beautifully drawn, badly translated Russian childern’s books. A generous gift from ???? ????????? ???????????????? ?????????.

I learnt much later that CCCP actually meant SSSR (Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik).

Funny story about Voxtrot. A friend shoved his sometime bandmate’s CD in my laptop and made me listen to it. Very nice. Turns out this friend of friend plays bass in Voxtrot. Got me interested in them. Different, but just as nice. Props for Smiths-ish photography on the cover.
